Laughing Paws OBX Group Dog Training Classes

To start our group dog training classes Laughing Paws OBX is offering a Dog Dinner Club.

The Dog Dinner Club consists of a 6 week group dog training class held at DogNutz in the Timbuck II shopping center in Corolla along with dinner at Mr. Munchies after every class.

Class size is limited to 6-8 dogs per class.

Cost $210.00 includes dinner after each class

When: Wednesday Evenings 7:30 and 8:30 start times.

Pre-Requisites: Dog must be current on shots, pups must have completed puppy shots. All dogs must bring proof of rabies vaccination to the first class in order to participate.

Please Bring: Your dog, your dog's favorite training treats (cubes of meat or cheese, chicken hot dog nickles, Freeze Dried Liver Treats, etc. Training treats must be real food and soft. NO Dog cookies or kibble please!!!) an old beach towel or similar mat, such as a bath mat, a 6 foot leash (not a retractable leash), poop pick up bags and your dog either on a flat collar (no choke collars, prong collars or, god forbid, shock collars) or a regular no frills nylon harness.

Classes to begin on January 16, 2008.

Location: DogNutz in Timbuck II Shopping Center in Corolla.

Mr. Munchies offers subs, wraps, burgers and salads. The dinner includes a entree plus a soft drink. Wine and Beer are also available but those are on you and are not included in the dog training package. Also, if you decide to drink please drink responsibly because you have precious cargo in the car. The precious cargo would be both you and your dog.

PLEASE NOTE: Dogs are NOT allowed to enter the Mr. Munchies restaurant AT ANY TIME or FOR ANY REASON!!! EVER!!! This would be a health code violation and that would be bad for all of us. Your dog, however, is welcome to join you on the deck for your mutual dining pleasure AFTER you have gotten your food. I will warn you that your dog is going to be mentally drained for the first 3-4 weeks of the training class and I HIGHLY, STRONGLY, MOST ASSUREDLY recommend that after the training class your dog adjourns to your vehicle until after you've finished eating. By the third or fourth week they will have settled into the new regime, as you will have, and at That time we will extend the class to cover basic life skills like not begging at the table, how to handle your dog around food and while others are eating, troubleshoot any food aggression isues that might crop up, etc. PLEASE NOTE that we won't cover the aforementioned issues until the third or, most likely, the fourth week of the training class.

ALL Dogs are welcome to attend this class(pups to adult dogs) UNLESS they have aggression issues of ANY kind. If your dog has aggression issues, or if you think that your dog has aggression issues, please let me know and Corduroy and I will do an evaluation of their behavior BEFORE the class begins. This is a safety issue and is non-negotiable.

Cost: $210.00 and that includes dinner after each class. It works out to be around $25.00 per class plus dinner.

I call these Basic Manners Skills. They are life skills that every dog should know with a special emphasis on Recalls.
